This week, the team is continuing the conversation on building and managing an e-commerce website! If you missed part one of this topic, be sure to go back and listen as we discussed some of the basics of getting started with your e-commerce journey.
Deciding to start an e-commerce platform is exciting and can be great for your business, but there are quite a bit of behind-the-scenes processes you may not have thought of. For example, how will you be managing your inventory, especially if you have a brick and mortar store front as well as a digital store running at the same time? This is one of the most important logistics to think through, as you don’t want to sell more product than you have, or drastically increase the time it takes to fulfill an order because you are waiting on more stock.
We also discuss the importance of having a plan for shipping if your products require it, efficiently managing the process of updating your online store if products are out of stock, prices change, you have a new product, etc., and of course remind you that it’s a great idea to ask your customers for feedback not only on the products they are buying, but also on the buying process. And if that isn’t enough for you, stick around to hear what grinds Ellen’s gears this week!
