Update of the Week
Meta, or Facebook as we will always know it, has another update for businesses. Whether you like the new Pages experience or dislike change, you need to know what it means for your business so you don’t lose valuable content or data. Ellen and the team discuss what the new Pages experience entails and how to navigate the change from a business standpoint.
With the new Pages experience, you can look for a redesigned Page layout, ability to switch and navigate between a public-facing Page and an individual profile, making it possible to manage your Page and profile separately, Page feed separate from your personal profile giving you the ability to follow different Pages and profiles, actionable insights, and updated Page management tools.

Should You be Using Video in your Marketing Strategy?
This week, the team dives into not only why you should be utilizing video in your marketing strategy when possible, but also how to do so effectively.
Video gives you the unique ability to show your audience your products, services, and who you are, instead of simply telling them. Utilizing video makes your messages more personal and gives you the ability to connect with your audience on a deeper level. Adding this visual component to your messaging will help your brand be better understood, and give consumers the connection they are looking for.
Yes, video is important for your marketing strategy. But you don’t want to do it just for the sake of doing it. The team discussed a few key ways in which you can implement video into your strategy in an effective way:
- Describe/demonstrate products and services
- Introduce your brand and your team
- Tell stories
- The history of the company
- Why you provide the services you do
- Who your services/products impact
- Customer/client spotlights
- Highlight customer testimonials
When it comes to video marketing, you have a lot of options in terms of where you want the videos to be seen. First you have to ask yourself, what is the purpose of my video? Should this be implemented somewhere on my website, or is this strictly for social media? Having a plan in place for your videos will help ensure you are consistent and that your strategy is sustainable.
Ellen, Elli, and John also discussed the pros and cons of having a prerecorded video versus a live video on a social media platform. Live stream videos certainly have their time and place, and can be great for audience interaction. But remember, this is live and you have little control over the video quality and the type of response you are generating from your audience.
Overall, we believe that every brand should incorporate video into their marketing strategy to some degree. However, like we always say, make sure your strategy is consistent and that the process is sustainable over time.
