Setting goals will help guide your focus, assist in determining what success looks like for you, and help you achieve that success. So, how do you set goals that will be meaningful to your business? John, Ellen, and Elli discuss just that on this week’s episode of “Ope, Here’s a Little Marketing For Ya.”
Before jumping into setting goals, we always recommend performing a SWOT analysis and evaluating your past performance as well as the performance of others in your industry. A SWOT analysis takes a look at potential strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Doing this will help you think through where your focus should lie, and help form a direction for your goals. The more research you do beforehand, the better off you will be on your road to success. As we’ve mentioned before though, a process should be set up for goal evaluation. Don’t hesitate to adjust goals when necessary if they aren’t making sense for your team or seem out of reach.
Remember, the most effective goals are SMART:
- Specific
- Measurable
- Attainable
- Relevant
- Timely
