As I tell my clients when we begin working on their new project – treat your web site like your digital business card. But what about your actual business card? How can it be used to develop leads via your website?
Your business card used to be the face of your business. You’d meet someone and hand them your card. Of course, since it was well designed, they’d obviously trust you and give you a phone call.
But now, your business card is a gateway to your online presence. Your web site, social media links, picture, QR code, etc – all in one handy little 2″x3″ area. Your business card still needs to have a sharp design and a clear message – but the pressure is on how you promote your web site.
Take a look at your business card and see how it drives traffic to your web site. Is the address hidden in with all the other phone number, email address, street address information? Or do you have it prominently displayed, or an awesome QR code on the back that heads right to a specific landing page to track how your business card is generating leads for your business.?
Your web site is your home base – where people that you meet can go to learn more (notice I said more, not everything) about your business. You want your potential customer to meet you and like you, take out your business card when they get home and be amazed. And hopefully, you have your phone number on your business card for them to call.
