1 – You Aren’t Getting Any Leads
Generally speaking, getting leads is more important than anything for your website. If your website isn’t converting traffic into business, you might need to reevaluate exactly how your site’s structure leads visitors into sales.
2 – You Aren’t Getting Any Traffic
If you aren’t getting ANY traffic – there might be something fundamentally wrong with your site. Even slow sites get a few hits a week. Or maybe no one is really interested in those broccoli-flavored popsicles after all.
3 – You’ve Stopped Bragging About it to Friends or Family
The shame complex. Terrible. If you aren’t constantly excited to share your website with friends, family members, clients and/or strangers – you’ve probably grown tired of it or you subconsciously realize you need to get a do-over.
4 – Your Website Looks Bad (or doesn’t show up at all) on Mobile Devices
This is a biggie. No matter what industry you are in, you need to have a website that looks good on mobile devices, tablets, etc.
5 – You Haven’t Updated it in 6 Months or More
If you haven’t spent time updating anything on your website in the last 6 months, it’s likely to be out of date. And if you don’t have space on your site to put fresh content – you definitely need a new website design.
6 – You Don’t Remember Your Website Designer’s Name
I can’t tell you how many times a potential client has been frozen by that question when I sit down with them. I couldn’t imagine leaving one of my clients alone so much that they couldn’t even think about how to reach out to me.
7 – Your Website Was Built Before the iPhone Existed
If Steve Jobs wasn’t back with Apple at the time your website was built, you might need a new website. For the most part, you should think about even the slightest face lift of a website every 2-3 years. As technologies change, it’s important to keep your website looking fresh.
8 – Your Website Still Looks Like This
Eek. Designed this website in 1997. Couldn’t imagine still having that design this many years later.
9 – You’ve Answered Yes to Any of the Above
If you’ve answered “yes” to any of the above questions and you aren’t at least going to my contact form and thinking about dropping me a note – then I’m not sure if we’d be a good fit anyway.
